What Does Tribal SITS Testing Involve?

Tribal SITS testing confirms that a university's student records system works correctly, securely and at scale. It covers functional and regression testing of SITS:Vision and the SITS client, integration testing with connected systems such as finance, timetabling and the VLE, performance testing for peaks such as Clearing and enrolment, and data migration testing for upgrades and cloud moves.

How We Use AI in SITS Testing

• AI-assisted regression automation – our Quality Fusion frameworks use AI object recognition and self-healing scripts, so tests keep working when SITS screens change after upgrades.
• Faster test creation – AI-assisted tools, including UFT One and Playwright with Claude Code, speed up the build of new regression tests.

Cloud Migration Testing

Prolifics Testing has worked on over 20 SITS projects, including 6 Cloud migrations. Our Testing Practice has developed a SITS Cloud Migration Testing blueprint, aligned with Tribal’s migration process, ensuring all areas are thoroughly tested. Our service includes flexible oversight of the entire process by our test management team, integration testing, functional regression testing, automation, performance and UAT co-ordination.

In addition, our dedicated Integration Practice can help with the design and development of integrations and advise on API solutions; enabling rapid, effective integrations with the flexibility to adapt to future changes.

Functional and Integration Testing

Ensure your software operates as specified with comprehensive functional testing of enhancements and regression testing after updates, patches or annual upgrades. We identify and resolve defects early, improving quality and reducing post-launch risks.  Our approach includes testing integrations with other key applications and third parties.

Performance Testing

Validate that SITS is able to support peaks driven by critical periods including Online Applications, Clearing, Module Registration, Timetabling and Enrolment. Our services are also able to go beyond SITS to test your IVR/Telephony system’s ability to handle peak loads through Load, Stress, Scalability, and Volume Testing. Once completed, our performance frameworks are handed over to our clients so that they can be run again after updates, or integrated into a CI/CD system.

Test Data Management

Our proprietary tool, Tidium, creates synthetic test data at scale and masks personal data from production systems for use in testing, so testing stays GDPR-compliant. The result is safe, realistic and meaningful test data for every testing scenario.

Test Automation

Automated regression testing is essential for universities that want to reduce cost and be confident in SITS, especially after upgrades. Our own Quality Fusion platform and ready-made frameworks for open-source and enterprise tools deliver test assets in open formats, so you are never locked in to a vendor. AI object recognition and self-healing scripts keep your automation efficient, easy to maintain and quick to pay back.

User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

We provide our clients with structure around the UAT process, recognising the importance of independent testing at this level, while being aware of the pitfalls that can result from not having the right foundational set of tests prior to this phase. Our test managers provide coaching to users who have not carried out testing before, which can include formal training if needed. We assist with the production of test plans and scenarios, as well as with test execution and defect reporting, allowing the users the opportunity to test your system in a controlled environment, with the support they need to be confident in verifying SITS is ready for release into production use.

Data Migration Testing

Data migration testing is essential for SITS cloud migrations and system changes. Our team uses in-house tools and custom queries to compare source and target data, so every record is accurate and complete before go-live. Where data sits in unstructured documents, we use AI to extract and validate it at scale.

How do you test SITS after annual upgrades and patches?

We run an automated regression pack covering both the SITS:Vision web interface and the SITS client, including core processes such as online applications, enrolment and module registration, after each upgrade or patch.

Can you help with a SITS cloud migration?

Yes. We have tested six SITS cloud migrations using a testing blueprint aligned with Tribal's migration process, covering integration, regression, automation, performance and UAT co-ordination.

Can you performance test SITS for Clearing?

Yes. We test SITS at the peaks created by online applications, Clearing, module registration, timetabling and enrolment, and can extend testing to telephony systems that handle peak call volumes.
