Our partnership with the University of Portsmouth (UoP) commenced in 2020 when they were among the pioneering universities to transition to a Tribal Cloud-hosted solution for Clearing. The university faced the critical task of validating the capability of the new Tribal cloud environment to accommodate the expected user load during this period. Additionally, they needed to confirm that their Tribal-hosted platform could effectively support students applying through various channels, including self-application, admissions, and the call centre.
Prolifics harnessed its purpose-built SITS Performance Test Cloud to ensure a seamless experience for the university teams leading up to the busy Clearing period. Our Performance Testing uncovered several minor issues, which were promptly communicated to Tribal and promptly resolved, guaranteeing a successful Clearing period for the University.
This initial success led to UoP engaging Prolifics for a broader range of Performance Tests encompassing Online Registration, Module Registration, Results Release, and a re-evaluation of Clearing tests. This extensive testing instilled confidence in UoP's senior stakeholders regarding their SITS platform.
Subsequently, the University enlisted Prolifics once more in 2022 when they aimed to upgrade their on-prem Moodle Learning Management System. Concerns arose about whether their existing infrastructure could support 26,000 students completing assignments and quizzes over the course of a week during assessments. Prolifics rapidly designed bespoke Performance Test scripts to simulate real-life student interactions with the system. Our tests provided conclusive evidence that the infrastructure upgrade was a resounding success.
In 2023, UoP once again sought Prolifics' expertise, this time for evaluating their migration to the CMISGo platform. This new cloud-based timetabling software would be used by both students and staff to access and add timetables, as well as enable staff to make room bookings. We swiftly assembled a team to meet stringent project deadlines, conducting thorough testing that mirrored real-life user behavior and usage levels. Following the completion of our tests, UoP had the confidence to approve the platform before the busy timetable release period.
Throughout our three-year partnership with UoP, we have collaboratively worked with project teams, maintained open lines of communication, and provided expert guidance regarding the risks associated with launching new cloud-based platforms. This ongoing relationship underscores the trust and confidence the University places in our services.
